3 Signs That Your Heating System is in Need of a Tune-Up

La Grange PlumberThe best way to extend the life of your heating system is by being able to identify signs of trouble long before they become significant heating emergencies. If you can contact your local HVAC professional when the warning signs of trouble are first being exhibited, you could potentially save the system from any further damage.

Even if you have a preventative maintenance contract with a heating repair company, it is still beneficial to be able to identify signs the heating system is in need of a tune-up.

Longer Running Heating System

When you set the temperature on the thermostat in your home, the heating system should run periodically to reach that temperature then turn off until the home gets cool.

While the heater should only be running for short periods at a time, if you see a pattern developing where the heating system is running much longer than normal, it could be the early signs of trouble. The sooner this issue is addressed by a professional, the less chance you will run into serious issues.

Burning Odors from the Air Vents

One of the easiest ways to tell that there could be trouble with the heating system, smelling burning odors coming from the air vents. The smells could be a number of troubles with the heating system, ranging from seized bearings to a stuck belt. All of which require immediate attention before the issue becomes a serious emergency.

If you smell burning odors from the heating system, power off the unit and call your local heating professional immediately. The sooner they identify the issue, the sooner they can restore the system.

Temperature Not Reaching Desired Setting

If you notice that the system is not warming up the home to the chosen temperature, make certain you have the thermostat set to heat. If the unit is set to heat and you do not feel the house getting warmer, the heating system may simply need a tune-up or worse.

La Grange Tune Up

Having the system tuned up will give the heating repair company the opportunity to take a closer look at all the moving parts to see if anything is not functioning properly. The experience of the heating repair technician will allow them to quickly identify small issues long before they become emergencies.

If you notice anything out of the ordinary, it is always safer to have a heating repair technician tune-up the system soon after you find the issue.
